2020 was going to be such a great year for so many people.  My diary was full of orders for beautiful wedding cakes and we were looking forward to a very busy year for our wedding cake business. Then came Coronavirus!  With most of this year’s weddings postponed to next year or 2022 and large celebration cakes cancelled, how were we going to survive? We had to think fast to find ways to adapt so our business can still be here for when our couples finally have their big day.

 

Wedding Cakes

Despite the lockdown and almost all our weddings being postponed to 2021 and 2022, love isn’t lost.  We’re still getting lots of new enquiries, which is great for our wedding cake business going forward. However, we’ve had to change the way we work with our clients.  During lockdown I held videocall consultations with couples and was able to post out taste sample boxes.  I’ve now managed to resume face to face consultations at our studio for those clients that prefer this, but with extra hygiene, PPE and social distancing measures in place.  Couples are also given the option to delay their consultation until things are more normal.  This is is proving very reassuring to couples who are excited for their wedding and wanting to get on with planning.

 

Brownies by Post

We now sell our delicious chocolate brownies online and can post to most parts of the UK.  Sending a box of brownies is a great way to show someone that you’re thinking of them.  You can even add a personalised handwritten message.  They are beautifully presented in recyclable packaging. A customer described them as a “hug in a box”.  Such  lovely thoughtful gift in these times when it’s difficult to see our friends and family.  You can choose from a range of delicious flavours including, salted caramel, triple chocolate, chocolate orange and cookies and cream.  For a full list of our current flavours click here

Cake Jars

In addition to our brownies, we are now offering yummy Cake Jars.  For the uninitiated, these are  layers of our light fluffy sponge, buttercream, sauces and conserves, in a recyclable glass jar!  We even include some spoons so you can dig straight in!  Again we can post to most parts of the UK.  See our cake jars here.

 

Luxury Christmas Hampers

We believe there will be more online Christmas shopping than ever this year are just working on our Christmas range.  It will include luxury gift hampers, lovingly filled with handcrafted goodies, including christmas cake, florentines, chocolates and fudge.  They’ll be beautifully gift wrapped in a luxury keepsake box and we can post to most parts of the UK.  Sign up to our newsletter to hear about our Christmas range as soon as it’s launched.

 

Cake Decorating Classes

I absolutely love sharing my skills and knowledge with people and have taught cake decorating classes at our studio for many years.  I’m still able to teach on a 1:1 basis at our studio, wearing PPE and following guidelines and have recently taught a 2 day wedding cake to a student, which was very successful.  However, I’d love to be able to reach a wider audience and I’m about to jump out of my comfort zone and offer online classes.  I’m excited to be able to connect with people wherever they live.
